The annual Letter Carrier’s Food Drive provided a wonderful boost and helped restock Horizons Food Pantry. We received a large pallet of food that was collected by our local letter carriers this past Saturday.
“Stamp Out Hunger” helps area residents take steps to fight the war on hunger, right in their own community. Individuals place bagged food items at their mailbox and local carriers collect the food donations while making their regular routes to deliver the mail.
These local food drives play an integral role in helping pantries like Horizons, keep food on our shelves. Low wages and unemployment have made it hard for individuals and families to get back on their feet. Food assistance programs have made a shift from emergency relief, to food maintenance for many struggling families.
Please consider how you or your organization can host a food drive and help Horizons provide hunger relief for God’s people who are in need.
