Horizons is blessed with some of the best staff, who are more like family. Today we're highlighting one of our Kitchen Managers, Tisha Reeves.

Tell us a little about yourself....
I come from a small little river town Louisiana, MO. My grandpa was a commercial fisherman so I learned at a very early age to appreciate the values of mature and simple things.

When did you join Horizons and what's your role?
I came to Horizons in 2016, however was hired as a kitchen manager in September of 2017.

Scripture you lean on...
Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding."

God moment at Horizons
I honestly feel like everyday has a God moment in it. However, the one that stands out the most is the following: It was around Christmas and one of our guest's little girls had gotten a used pair of boots and was so excited. As she shared I found out they were currently living in their car, with no money for anything, let alone Christmas. The little girl shared she was gonna wrap the boots to open on Christmas. As I shared the story with a local group of volunteers, who chose to take Christmas party funds to help others through Horizons, they wanted to do even more. From my understanding they funded a hotel room and helped the mother get into the YWCA program. God definitely changed several lives that day!

Unpopular opinion about food...
Never again will I try oysters!

Invited three people to lunch at Horizons, who are they?
Even though all three have passed I'd invite Grandma Leila, mom, and my Aunt Ceney so they could see what all their teaching skills of cooking has blessed me with today.
